September 30, 2013 Sports Picks

I had a much better day yesterday compared with the previous Sunday.  I went 9-5 for +183 in NFL and 3-0 for +300 in MLB for a total gain of $483.  It could have been much better if I didn't do those teasers.  For Monday, we have two games.  Here's what I'm going with:

Saints -300 $1,050 to win $350
- I know Miami is good and they have won some close games so far this year.  I'm going big on New Orleans for two reasons, they are home and they are playing on Monday night.  Drew Brees loves to show off his skills in prime time and the crowd will be rocking.  I just can't see the Saints losing this game straight up.  At +7 I have no idea what to do so I'll take the safer play with the moneyline.

Saints / Over 41.5 7 pt teaser $300 to win $231
- I like the Saints to win and I think we see a lot of scoring in a prime time game in a dome.

Miami +14 / Over 41.5 7 pt teaser $300 to win $231
- I'm expecting Miami to keep this game close as they are too good and well coached to get blown out.  It still could happen but I want to make a little money back if Miami somehow wins straight up.

Rays/Rangers under 7.5 -120 $240 to win $200
- This will be a very intense game and normally these type of games are low scoring.  David Price is a big game pitcher and is capable of shutting out the opposition. Price is coming off four quality starts in a row where he gave up just 2 earned runs in each of those starts.  Price is equally as good in road starts vs. home starts.  For the Rangers, Perez has pitched very well this season and has a 3.18 ERA at home.

Rays -135 $135 to win $100
- Tampa has been the better team down the stretch and Price is better than Perez.  I am not overly confident in this but I couldn't pass.

September 29, 2013 Sports Picks

Yesterday I had another up and down day but finished 9-7 for +165.  I made much more on my NCAA picks and lost on my baseball picks yesterday.  I'm kicking myself for betting on Uconn and Purdue.  Those were big mistakes but lesson learned and it will only make me stronger in the future.  I do want to congratulate Andy Petitte for a great career and finishing with a complete game win.  Also, even though Wisconsin lost I think their coaching staff is very smart and managed that game very well.  I see a lot of coaches making stupid decisions like going for two when one is the best move at the time.  Why are some football coaches so stupid? Taking timeouts and going for two are some of the things I notice.  These are simple things that coaches really should know what the best move is.  One example is when Uconn scored a touchdown and were down 16 they decide to go for two.  Why?  I have no idea.  It was in the 2nd quarter so getting it to 14 would have been nice but 15 would have worked just fine considering they would need to get two more touchdowns to tie.  They failed on the two point conversion so remained down 16.  To tie they would now need two touchdowns and two two point conversions.  Either way, I was completely wrong on this game and will not bet for UConn the rest of the year.  Their QB is complete garbage.

I feel really good about my picks on Sunday.  I have a lot of my card so take note:

NFL:

Vikings +3 -115 $115 to win $100
- I'm doing this mainly for the entertainment value of it as I am a Vikings fan.  I don't recommend the Vikings but I'm going with them mainly because Ponder is out.  Cassel is much better than Ponder so we could see a much better showing from the Vikes today.  Minnesota has all the right pieces in place (RB, WRs, TE, offense line, defense) but they are missing the most important position in QB.  Please draft a QB this year!

Ravens -3 -115 $230 to win $200
- Baltimore completely dominated the Texans last week and this week they get to play a much weaker opponent in Buffalo.  The Raven's defense should have another good game against Manuel and the Bills.  Spiller will play but is not at 100%.

Ravens/Bills under 44 -110 $165 to win $150
- Baltimore has struggled offensively so far and their defense has played very well over the past two weeks.  Buffalo has been involved in close and higher scoring games so far this year but they are going to have trouble moving the ball on Sunday.  The Bills have a decent defense and should be able to limit the offensive production of the Ravens.

Bengals -200 $400 to win $200
- Last week I was thinking about which teams are standing out as the best teams in the NFL and two teams stood out to me.  The Broncos (obviously), Seahawks and the Bengals.  Cincinnati has been finding ways to win and is coming off a very impressive win against the Packers.  Cleveland is one of the worst teams this year so I fully expect the Bengals to win this game.

Bengals/Browns under 42.5 -110 $220 to win $200
- Cleveland has a good defense but has struggled offensively.  Cincinnati likes to control the clock and they also have a very good defense.  This is more a hunch than anything as I don't think Cleveland can put up points in this game.

Colts / Broncos Parlay $400 to win $183
- Jacksonville is the worst team in the NFL this year and the Colts are coming off a very impressive win against the 49ers.  I love betting with Andrew Luck as he's a big game QB who should easily be able to win this game.  I considered parlaying all my bets with the Broncos as I think they win this game easily.  I've been saying this for a long time but Peyton Manning is the best QB in the NFL and probably the best QB of all time.  Yes, I said it.

Seahawks -2.5 -110 $220 to win $200
- I understand the Seattle isn't as good on the road but they have a great team this year.  They were very good last year and this year they are even better.  Wilson could turn out to be one of the best QBs in the NFL and their defense is 2nd to none.  I really like Houston but they are a mess right now.  They were completely over matched last week against the Ravens.  Seattle is much better than Baltimore.

Cardinals +4 (buy points) -175 $350 to win $200
- Arizona shouldn't be an underdog against Tampa Bay who are starting a new QB on Sunday.  The Cardinals haven't played particularly well so far this year but they did beat a pretty good Detroit team two weeks ago and Tampa is probably the second worst team in the NFL, just ahead of Jacksonville.  They are coming off a 23-3 loss against a sub par New England team.

Bears +13 / Giants +14.5 / Titans +6.5 10 pt teaser $250 to win $193
- I think all three of these teams could win and the teaser gives me a little cushion.

Titans -190 $380 to win $200
- Tennessee is much better than the Jets and I feel confident in this game.  The Titans have a solid defense and a decent offense.  The Jets are very inconsistent on offense and have a lot of holes on defense.

Titans/Jets under 41.5 -110 $220 to win $200
- Both teams have pretty good defenses and have struggled on offense.  I really like the under in this game.

Dallas +8 / Oakland +13.5 / Denver -1 10 pt teaser $250 to win $193
- Dallas is much better than I thought they would be this year and this game is a toss up.  Oakland is home and regardless of the QB they should be able to keep the game close against a below average Washington team who is 0-3.  Denver is the best team in the NFL and they should have no trouble winning at home against Philly.

Broncos -9.5 (buy points) -150 $300 to win $200
- The Broncos are amazing so far this year.  Peyton Manning is the best QB in the game and Philadelphia's defense is dreadful.  I think Denver will put up 50 points in this game.

Broncos/Eagles over 58.5 -110 $110 to win $100
- Manning can't be stopped and Philly has a very fast paced offense.  This is a big number but no way I'm passing on it.

MLB:

Rays -170 $170 to win $100
- Tampa needs this win and Moore has been very good.  Moore is coming off a five inning, three hit shutout and has a 2.97 ERA in this career against Toronto and a 2.59 ERA on the road this year.

Indians -200 $200 to win $100
- Cleveland continues to win and Sunday is a huge game for them.  They win and they are in the playoffs with home field advantage in the play in game.  They have their Ace going today in Jimenez.

Rangers -220 $220 to win $100
- Texas needs to win this game and they have their best pitcher going in Darvish.   Darvish is a big game pitcher and this game seems like a lock to me.  Hopefully Texas' offense can put up a few runs.

September 28, 2013 Sports Picks

I had a pretty good day yesterday going 4-2 for +231.  Today I have a lot of games on my card.  Here they are.

NCAA

Miami -17 (buy .5) -120 $360 to win $300
- Miami is so much better than South Florida and should be able to win this one easily.

Virginia +15.5 / Purdue +13.5/ AZ St +6 10 pt teaser $200 to win $154
Illinois -25 -110 $110 to win $100
South Carolina / Ore St Parlay $200 to win $128
South Carolina -280 $280 to win $100
Ok St over 57.5 -110 $220 to win $200

Ore ST / FL parlay $200 to win $94
- I really like Oregon State's offense this year and they should be able to get by Colorado who doesn't play defense.  Florida looked very strong last game against Tennessee and I think they bring that momentum into this game against Kentucky.

UConn +1 -110 $220 to win $200
- Uconn is coming off a tough loss against Michigan but they almost won that game and this week they get a much weaker opponent in Buffalo.  Buffalo lost 70-13 against Baylor a few weeks ago and just barely beat Stony Brook.

Gophers +110 $100 to win $110
- I'm from Minnesota and I've watched the Gophers dominate its weaker opponents so far this year.  They are home underdogs against Iowa.  Iowa has played well so far this year as well and this game is a toss up but I'll go with the home underdog in this spot.

LSU +4.5 (bought points) -160 $160 to win $100
- LSU looks very strong this year and Georgia has struggled a bit.  Georgia had a really hard time against North Texas last week before pulling away late.

Washington / Stanford Parlay $300 to win $203
- Both Washington and Stanford look very good this year and I fully expect both to win today.

Alabama -13.5 (buy 1 pt) -130 $260 to win $200
- Alabama is very good and can put up points very quickly if they are on.  You could tell they were looking past the game last week against Colorado St and had their focus on today's game against Mississippi.   Ole Miss is good but not impressive.

AZ ST -3 (buy pts) -145 $290 to win $200
-  Arizona State is home and they have played very well at home.  USC has struggled this year.

OH ST -265 $265 to win $100
- This is a big game and I'll be watching.  Both Ohio State and Wisconsin are very good and have outstanding offenses.  Ohio State's defense is much better than Wisconsin's and they are home.

OH ST vs. WI over 56 -110 $110 to win $100
-  This game should go over 56 as I expect a lot of scoring from each team.
MLB:

Rangers -155 $155 to win $100
Reds -130 $130 to win $100
Rays -160 $320 to win $200
A's -160 $160 to win $100
- Oakland is still fighting for the #1 seed.  Parker has been very good and is coming off a very strong start in which he went 6 innings and gave up just 4 hits and 1 run.  Over his last 10 starts he has given up more than 2 runs just three times and more than 3 runs just once.  Maurer has a 6.75 career ERA against Oakland and has a 6.48 ERA on the season.

September 27, 2013 Sports Picks, Late Games

In addition to my earlier games, which are doing great so far, I have added the following:

Nationals -128 $256 to win $200
- This will be Strasburg's final start of the year and you know he's going to want to finish strong.  The Nationals can relax and play loose tonight with nothing on on the line.  Corbin has really struggled of late and has been giving up a lot of crooked numbers.

Padres +1.5 -210 $210 to win $100
- Burch Smith has been pitching very good over his last three starts.  He has only given up 4, 3, 3 hits and 2, 0, 2 runs in those starts and those starts were against Colorado, Atlanta, and LAD.  Volgelsong has really struggled over his last four starts where he gave up 4, 5, 3 and 5 earned runs in those starts.  He has a 5.96 career ERA against San Diego and 5.53 ERA at home this year.

A's vs. Mariners under 6.5 -115 $115 to win $100
- This is set up to be a great pitching duel with Colon vs. Hernandez.  Colon has been great all year and is coming off five great starts in a row where he only gave up 3 earned runs total in those starts.  Hernandez is always capable of throwing a gem.  He'll want to finish his season on a positive note.

September 27, 2013 Sports Picks

I had another good day yesterday, mainly because the 49ers took care of business.  I went 2-3 for +$695.  It would have been $260 higher if the Indians didn't blow a 6-1 lead in the 9th to only win 6-5.  That Pinto home run with two outs hurt.  But at least I made some good coin.  Here are my plays for today:

Cardinals -180 $180 to win $100
- St. Louis looks to lock up the division tonight against the Cubs.  The Cards have been playing really good ball and Lynn has pitched well.  He is coming off three very strong starts in which he gave up 5, 6, 4 hits and 0, 2, 1 runs.  For the Cubs, Travis Wood has had a really nice season but he has struggled against St. Louis in his career (4.80 ERA).

Red Sox -128 $200 to win $156
- Boston is still fighting for the #1 seed and I think they really need that #1 seed.  They are my favorites to win the world series this year but having home field advantage is important.  Clay Buchholz has been one of the best pitchers in all of baseball this year and he is 5-0 with a 0.95 ERA on the road this year.  Baltimore is out of the playoffs and I don't see them getting up for this game.

Indians -180 $180 to win $100
- Cleveland should have won 6-1 last night but blew the lead in the ninth.  Perez shouldn't be closing for such a good club.  I'm a big fan of Corey Kluber who is 3-0 over his last four starts since coming off the DL.  Cleveland needs this win and I think they get it against MN and Pedro Hernandez.  Hernandez is coming off a game in which he pitched 2 innings and gave up 8 hits and 6 earned runs.  He has a 6.10 career ERA against the Indians.

Tigers -160 $320 to win $200
- Detroit still have a shot at the #1 seed or at least the #2 seed so they will be motivated to win tonight.  Porcello has actually pitched very well lately.  I had locked this in earlier today but just realized that Porcello was scratched because he won't be starting in the playoffs.  This bet will be canceled but I may still do this game with the revised odds so check back.

I will most likely add a game or two later.

September 26, 2013 Sports Picks

Yesterday was a pretty good day as I went 4-2 for +238.  I also added the Giants +1.5 -135 late but I didn't post it here.  For Thursday, I'm going big on the niners so hopefully it works out.

SF 49ers -175 $1,750 to win $1,000
- Both the Rams and the 49ers have struggled over the last two games.  The goods news for me is the 49ers are much better than the Rams.  St. Louis is one sided and they don't have a run game.  SF feasts off of teams who don't have balance on offense.  Kaepernick loves domes and will put up a lot of points on Thursday night!

GA Tech -275 $275 to win $100
- GA Tech seems like the much better team.  Virginia Tech has struggled to put up points.  I'll go with the home team.

Mets vs. Brewers under 7.5 -110 $220 to win $200
- Gee has been pitching very well.  He has a 2.53 ERA at home.  I like going with the under in a National League game late in the season because we should see some young players who will be going 0-4.

Braves vs. Phillies under 8 -115 $115 to win $100
- Both the Braves and the Phillies have struggled on offense lately.

Rangers -1.5 +120 $100 to win $120
- Texas needs to keep winning if they are going to make the playoffs.  I like Garza in this spot.  He's a big game pitcher.  Williams has struggled all year and has a 5.98 career ERA against the Rangers.

Indians -1.5 EVEN $130 to win $130
- Cleveland is so hot right now and I don't want to get off that train.  They get the Twins today and should be able to win this game easily.

September 25, 2013 Sports Picks

I had an up and down day yesterday going 3-4 for -235.  For today, here are my picks:

Cardinals vs. Reds under 7.5 -120 $180 to win $150
- Zimmerman has been very good this year and is coming off a 2 hit shutout in his last start.  Shelby Miller started off really good but struggled for a bit and is now pitching at a high level again.  He has a 1.77 ERA at home this year.

Braves -155 $240 to win $155
- Atlanta is hot right now and they need to keep winning if they want to secure the #1 seed in the playoffs.  Paul Maholm is 6-2 with a 2.18 ERA at home this year.  Lohse has had a few shaky starts lately.

Phillies -140 $200 to win $143
- I wanted to go bigger here with Hamels pitching but the Phillies offense has really struggled lately.  Hamels wants to end his season on a positive note and he's got the Marlins to do it against.  Miami has struggled offensively as well.  In Hamels last start against Miami he threw 7 innings and gave up just 4 hits and 1 run.  He also struck out 11 in that game.

Indians -125 $250 to win $200
- Cleveland is very hot right now and they won a game yesterday that they should have lost.  They bring that momentum into tonight's game against Axelrod and the White Sox.  I think we see a blow out here.  Danny Salazar has electric stuff and should shut down Chicago for the 4-5 innings he pitches.

Indians / Rangers parlay $150 to win $128
- Both teams are big favorites and I wanted to do a Rangers play and this seemed to be the best option.

Red Sox -112 $224 to win $200
- Boston is coming off a loss and they are too good to lose two in a row against the Rockies.

September 24, 2013 Sports Picks

I got back on track yesterday going 5-1 for +732.  For today here are the games I'm going with:

Braves -144 $288 to win $200
- Atlanta still needs to play hard because they want to get that #1 seed.  They may rest one starter a day but we won't see anything like what LA did a few days ago.  Looks like they have their full lineup in tonight.  Freddy Garcia has been pitching great and I think he just earned a spot in the playoff rotation.  Over his last two starts Freddy has given up just 2 earned runs and 12 hits in 13 innings.  He gets the light hitting Brewers at home tonight.  Milwaukee is actually playing pretty good ball lately but their streak won't last.

Reds -185 $370 to win $200
- Cincinnati has been playing very well lately and they are home with Mike Leake on the hill.  Leake is coming off three outstanding starts in a row and sports a 1.31 career ERA against the Mets.  For the Mets, Niese has pitched well but he has struggled on the road and has a 5.66 ERA in those starts.

Pirates -153 $306 to win $200
- Pittsburgh is still fighting for the division and they aren't resting guys right now.  I'm a huge fan of Gerrit Cole who has been money lately.  In his last start he threw 6 innings, gave up 4 hits, 1 run and struck out 12.  The guy is amazing.  He has been hitting 97 and hitting his corners.  The Cubs don't have a chance as long as the Pirate bats can wake up.

Indians -1.5 -115 $115 to win $100
- Cleveland is one of the hottest teams right now.  I can't bet against them so might as well bet with them.  They get one of the worst teams in all of baseball tonight and Jimenez has been pitching great.  Over his last four starts he has only given up 2 runs.  I'm not sure why I'm not going more on this game.

O's -1.5 +130 $100 to win $130
- I'm not sure why I'm doing this bet other than I really love the O's and wish they would have made the playoffs.  The preasure is off and they can just relax and put up some serious runs tonight.  The Blue Jays have some many injuries their team looks like the Buffalo Bisons.  Tillman has been good for Baltimore this year and I'm sure he is motivated to win his last two starts to get to 18 wins.

Tigers -200 $200 to win $100
- Detroit is still playing for playoff seeding and the Twins are not very good.  I have Fister starting tonight in my fantasy championship so I need him to do well!

Red Sox -150 $150 to win $100
- Boston is my favorite to win the World Series.  They want to lock up the #1 seed in the AL.  Lackey has had a very good season and is coming off a 9 inning, 2 hit, 1 run win over Baltimore.  Colorado is not very good but you never know at Coors.

September 23, 2013 Sports Picks

Well I got completely smoked yesterday going 2-12 for -$3,575.  That hurts as I just lost all my gains since the football season started.  A couple games were especially frustrating with the Vikings, Falcons and Packers losing right at the end.  I was completely wrong on the 49ers and Seahawks.  I strongly believed the Niners would come out and play well at home against Indy but they weren't prepared.  I lost a big under bet on the Seahawks as I thought they would run the clock out after they got up so big but that didn't happen.  Large losses like this do happen and I'm going to pick myself up and move forward.  For Monday here's what I'm going with:

Broncos -13.5 (buy points) -160 $320 to win $200
-  Denver has put up 90 points in their first two games and have been very dominant so far.  I don't see them taking their foot off the gas.  It is very tough to play in Denver and Oakland's rookie QB should struggle.

Broncos -9.5 / Over 43 6 pt teaser $200 to win $182
-  Denver should win by at least 14 and points will be scored in this game.

Phillies -1.5 +130 $200 to win $260
- Halladay dominated the Marlins in his last start on 9/17 going six innings giving up just four hits and one run.  Evolaldi has been really inconsistent lately and has mostly struggled at home recently.

Reds -240 $600 to win $250
- Cueto is back from the DL and back to shutting teams out.  In his last start he pitched five innings and gave up just five hits and no runs.  He has a 2.08 ERA at home this year.  The Reds are playing good ball right now and want this win badly to stay in the division race.  Harang hasn't pitched well over his last seven starts.  He gave up 7 earned runs in three of those starts and has given up at least 3 earned runs in six of those starts.

Rays -150 $300 to win $200
- Tampa Bay has been playing great ball lately and just won the first three games in the series with Baltimore.  The O's won't be up for this game as they know their season is most likely over.  Archer has been dealing and has a 1.69 ERA against the O's in his career and a 2.70 ERA at home.  Chen hasn't pitched all that well and has given up at least 3 earned runs in 9 of his last 11 starts.

Rangers -1.5 -130 $130 to win $100
- I think Holland has corrected whatever problems he was having and is coming off a strong start against Tampa where he pitched six innings and gave up just six hits and 2 runs.  The Rangers haven't played well lately but either has Houston who just got dominated against Cleveland.

September 22, 2013 Sports Picks

Yesterday was a pretty good day.  I was 3-0 in MLB for +392.  I was 6-5 for +191.  Overall I made $583.  I didn't count the UCLA -44.5 bet I made late in the evening.  UCLA is one of the best teams in the nation and New Mexico St is one of the worst teams ever.  Anyway, another positive day for me.  Sundays are my favorite day and here is what I'm going with:

NFL:
San Diego +3 -115 $115 to win $100
- The Chargers have looked good in two straight games.  Last week was impressive. This week they play against a much better defense but they are clicking right now and I'll take the points in a small bet.

Vikings / NE Parlay $250 to win $182
- I am very confident the Vikings will win this game at home.  They should have won last week in Chicago but blew it at the end.  MN has historically played much better at home and Cleveland just traded their best player.

San Diego +13 / Tampa Bay +17 / GB +7 10 pt teaser $250 to win $193
-  I like San Diego and Green Bay to win so getting extra points is a bonus.  Tampa Bay is better than people think and New England is a complete mess right now.  I still think New England will win but it won't be by 17.

Saints / SF Parlay $500 to win $296
- The Saints are tough to beat at home and I know Drew Brees wants to have a huge game today.  San Fran is coming off a really tough game but they play so much better at home and should take care of Indy.

Saints vs. Cardinals over 49 $165 to win $150
- Drew Brees is set to have a monster game even though the Cardinals have a pretty good defense.  Arizona's offense is much better with Palmer.

Redskins -110 $110 to win $100
- Normally I would pass on a game like this but I'm picturing a Redskins win here.  RG3 hasn't looked good but this is his third game and Washington needs this win.  Detroit doesn't play as well on the road.

Packers -3 $220 to win $200
- I really love the Packers this year.  They have so many weapons and Rodgers has plenty of experience playing on the road.  I had a dream that Green Bay won 66-3.  I know that won't happen but I'm confident they will win.

Falcons +120 $200 to win $240
- I like getting a very good Atlanta team at plus juice against a mediocre team in Miami.  I know Miami has started out well but I'll take the Falcons in this one.

Seattle -19 $110 to win $100
- I'm not sure I ever remember a spread this high in the NFL.  Like I said, I won't bet against Seattle when they are home.  I see Seattle winning 31-0.

Seattle vs. Jacksonville under 41 $330 to win $300
- Points will be hard to come by for Jacksonville with that noise.  Seattle will run run run and the clock will continue to run.

SF -450 $900 to win $200
- The 49ers are very good at home and will be ready to win this afternoon.  Indy doesn't play defense.

MLB:
Phillies -205 $410 to win $200
- Cliff Lee has been outstanding and is coming off a 14 strike out game.  The Mets are better now that Wright is back but it won't matter today.

Cardinals vs. Milwaukee under 8.5 -120 $240 to win $200
- Both Joe Kelly and Peralta have pitched very well so I'll take the under.

Dodgers -130 $130 to win $100
- Greinke is really good and Cashner is coming off a one hit shut out.  Usually pitchers struggle after a game like that.

Astros +1.5 +105 $200 to win $210
- Houston is really bad but they will play the role of spoiler today against the Indians.

Sorry for my brief write ups today.  I was a little rushed this morning but all my research was down last night.  Good luck today.

September 21, 2013 Sports Picks

I had another good day yesterday going 5-2 for +274.  I really enjoy Saturday's and college football.  At this point here are my plays:

NCAA:
Vanderbilt -29.5 -110 $110 to win $100
- Vanderbilt looked pretty good against a very good South Carolina team last week on the road.  UMass is bad and this should be a blow out.

Virginia Tech / GA Tech parlay $200 to win $160
-  I'm not a big fan of VT but I think they find a way to win today at home.  North Carolina isn't as good this year and I think Georgia Tech takes care of business at home.

Georgia -23.5 / Alabama - 29.5 / UCLA - 32.5 10 pt teaser $250 to win $192
All three of these teams are big favorites today and I would probably pick all to beat the spread but getting an extra 10 points puts me at ease.

Notre Dame - 200 $400 to win $200
Notre Dame should be able to win at home against a sub par Michigan St team.

Tennessee +26 / Utah +16.5 / Kansas St +16.5 10 pt teaser $250 to win $192
- I like all three teams to beat the spread today.

Tenn/FL under 46 $110 to win $100
- FL has a great defense and they have struggled on offense.

TX A&M -28 (buy .5 pts) -120 $240 to win $200
- I love betting on TX A&M with Johnny football.  They are home and will be putting up a lot of points against SMU.  Their defense didn't look so good last week but that was against an Alabama team who no one can stop.

Stanford / Ore St Parlay $200 to win $169
- I like both of these teams today.  Stanford is home and will find a way to win against AZ St.  Oregon St. looked really good last week offensively against Utah.

Utah / BYU over 62 -110 $110 to win $100
- Both of these teams have really good offenses and I see a lot of points being put up today.

Badgers -23 $110 to win $100
- Wisconsin should dominant Purdue at home today.

Miss St / BYU / Nevada Parlay $250 to win $280
- I love doing parlays on teams I think should easily win.

MLB:

Rays -150 $150 to win $100
- Alex Cobb is very good at home so I'll go with the home team here.

A's / Indians Parlay $200 to win $192
- Both the A's and Indians are home and would like the win today.  The A's have dominated the Twins in the series.  Parker has been really good lately with the exception of his last start.  For the Indians Kazmir has been decent and Paul Clemens is no Roger.

Nationals -1.5 -150 $150 to win $100
- Strasburg is pitching and the Nationals are super hot right now.

Dodgers -1.5 -110 $110 to win $100
- Kershaw is pitching and the Dodger starters should be back in today after a day off.

September 20, 2013 Sports Picks

I had an up and down day yesterday.  I was very successful in MLB going 4-1 for +885.  I lost my NFL and NCAA bets going 0-3 for -750.  Overall on the night I finished +135.  Not too bad.  For Friday these are the games I'm going with:

Phillies -210 $630 to win $300
- Cole Hamels has been outstanding over his last 10 starts.  Hamels hasn't given up more than 3 runs in any of those starts and only gave up more than 2 runs twice.  The Phillies have won seven straight games in Hamels' starts.  The Mets are pitching Daisuke Matsuzaka who hasn't pitched well this year.  He is coming off two pretty good starts but there's no way he keeps that going.

Cardinals -170 $340 to win $200
- St. Louis is playing good ball and they are fighting for a division championship.  Shelby Miller has pitched well over the past 30 days and he has gone 3-1 over that period.  For the Brewers, Hellweg hasn't pitched well at all this year and sports a 8.31 ERA.  Its likely that the Cardinals offense will hit this guy pretty hard.

Nationals / Indians Parlay $200 to win $192
- I really like both teams who are home and are playing well.  The Nationals have Zimmerman pitching who has been arguably their best pitcher this season.  Zimmerman has a 2.82 ERA at home and over the past 30 days he is 4-1.  The Marlin's Turner hasn't pitched more than 6 innings in any of his last seven starts.  His ERA has increased from 2.49 to 3.51 over his last nine starts. For the Indians, McAllister is coming off a very good start and the Indians just seem to find a way to win.  They get to play Houston in game one of the series and I have a feeling they will be pumped up to win this game after a walk off win last night.

Tigers / A's Parlay $300 to win $262
- The Tigers are a lock with Scherzer vs. The White Sox and Rienzo.  The A's play well at home and the Twins are not very good right now.  Colon has been great this year and I am visualizing him shutting out the Twins in Oakland.

Red Sox -1.5 -120 $240 to win $200
- Boston is very good at home and Lester has been amazing lately.  Over the past 30 days, Lester is 3-1 with a 2.83 ERA.  Lester is also much better at home (3.25 ERA).

SF Giants +130 $150 to win $195
- The Yankees needs this win and they have their Ace on the hill.  The bad news for New York is that Sabathia has struggled all year.  Over the last 30 days he has a 5.23 ERA.  For the Giants, Tim Lincecum is 4-0 over the last 30 days and you can tell he is back on his game.  The Giants are one of the hottest teams right now and I will take them at +130.

Fresno St -190 $380 to win $200
- Fresno St. has been putting up a lot of points so far this year and Boise has not impressed me so far.  I'll take the home team in this spot.

September 19, 2013 Sports Picks

After a long winning streak I came crashing down yesterday going 1-6 for -1,526.  It was a rough day/night as I was on my way to winning every single game but the closers blew it in the ninth.  The A's were up 4-2 in the ninth before a game tying home run by Hamilton.  The Pirates were up 2-1 with two outs in the ninth and then Melancon gave up two hits and two runs to lose 3-2.  The Giants were up 4-0 and then the Mets, of all teams, score 1 run in the 8th and then 4 in the ninth to win 5-4.  The Red Sox lose in extra innings 5-3.  At least the Cardinals held on to win 4-3 over the Rockies.  Overall this has been one of the worst nights I have ever had.  I know I can't control what happens in the game and I can only put my money in the appropriate play based on the stats.  I'm not going to be discouraged as I am still way up over the past six days.

Here are my picks for Thursday:

NFL:

Eagles -175 $350 to win $200
-  Philadelphia has a great offense but has struggled on defense.  I think they will make some adjustments on defense and come out and play much better tonight.  Michael Vick has had success under the lights so I'm putting my money on the Eagles at home.

Eagles +3.5 / Over 44.5 6.5 Teaser $150 to win $125
- I think the Eagles will win straight up but if they lose it will probably be by 3 points.  They like to run a lot of plays and score as many points as possible.  Last week they put up 66 points so getting over 45 shouldn't be a problem.

MLB:

Pirates -170 $510 to win $300
- I'm a huge fan of Gerrit Cole.  Cole has electric stuff.  I just can't see the Pirates getting swept at home against the Padres.  I think the offense wakes up against Ian Kennedy who sports a 4.85 ERA.

Giants -142 $426 to win $300
- San Fransisco is the superior team and they have their best pitcher going in Bumgarner.  Bumgarner has only given up more than 3 earned runs in 4 starts this season and all of those runs were given up earlier this season.  Over his last 6 starts, he has given up less hits than innings in all of those starts. He also has a 2.20 ERA in day games.  For the Mets, Niese has pitched well for the most part but he has a tough test against all the good right handed hitters the Giants have.  Niese has a 4.48 ERA in day games.

Cardinals -1.5 -120 $240 to win $200
- St. Louis has a great offense and Roy Oswalt has pitched very poorly.  He's 0-6 with a 7.71 ERA on the season.  In his one start at home he gave up 5 earned runs in 5 innings.  For the Cardinals, Michael Wacha is coming off three outstanding starts where he gave up 2 runs, 9 hits in 18 innings.

Tigers/A's Parlay $200 to win $225
- Both teams are big favorites and for good reason.  Detroit wants this win badly after getting beat last night and Fister is coming off a very good start against the Royals.  Fister is better in home games and in day games.  For Oakland, Straily is 4-0 over his last four starts and has been very stingy in terms of giving up hits.  Minnesota is a mess right now and the A's need this win.

Indians -240 $720 to win $300
- Jimenez has been one of the best pitchers in the game over the past 30 days.  He has given up just one earned run over his last three starts.  The Indians need this win and are at home against the Astros.  Keuchel has really struggled over his last two starts given up 11 earned runs in 9 innings.  Its a lot of juice but its worth the risk in this game.

NCAA:

Clemson -13.5 (buy 0.5 pt) -125 $250 to win $200
- Clemson is a very good team and they can put up points very quickly.  NC State didn't play very last week and just barely got by Richmond winning 23-21.  Clemson is 5-1 ATS in its last six road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings at North Carolina State.

September 18, 2013 Sports Picks

Well, I didn't go undefeated last night but I did pretty good going 6-1 for +$572.  I'll take that after such a great run.  I was going to scale down a bit on Wednesday but I do like a few games and here is what I'm doing:

Pirates -160 $480 to win $300
- For some reason Pittsburgh is having a hard time beating San Diego at home.  I like the Pirates in this game based on the pitching matchup.  Morton has a 1.46 career ERA against the Padres and 3.15 ERA at home.  Tyson Ross was hot for a while but lately he has struggled.  He has a 5.68 career ERA against the Pirates and 4.14 ERA on the road.  In his start against Pittsburgh on 8/20 he gave up 4 earned runs in 6.1 innings.

Giants -1.5 +115 $100 to win $115
Giants -143 $286 to win $200
- San Fransisco is playing really good ball right now and they are finally healthy.   They have a very good offense and Matt Cain has pitched well since he came off the DL.  The Mets don't have an offense and Harang has a 5.70 ERA on the season.

Cardinals -1.5 -155 $310 to win $200
- St. Louis had a really good game on Tuesday scoring 10 runs against a very good pitcher in Nicasio.  On Wednesday they get to hit against Tyler Chatwood who has struggled recently.  Adam Wainwright goes for the Cards and he has been really good.  Over his last two starts, Wainwright has given up just 1 run and 8 hits over 15 innings.  In his last game against the Rockies he pitched a 2 hit CG shut out.

A's -1.5 +135 $100 to win $135
A's -155 $310 to win $200
- Oakland is too good to be struggling at home against the Angels.   A.J. Griffin is 4-0 over his last four starts and has a 2.14 career ERA against the Angels.  Jason Vargas has struggled lately giving up 15 earned runs over 14.1 innings in his last three starts.  He also has a 4.76 ERA on the road.

Red Sox -150 $450 to win $300
- Boston is 50-26 at home this year and I really like Jake Peavy's intensity and passion for the game.  You can tell he is really excited to be playing for a competing team now.  Peavy is 2-0 with a 2.94 ERA over his last five starts.  He has also pitched very well at Fenway Park.  For Baltimore, Chen has a 6.67 ERA over his last five starts.  In his last start against Boston he gave up 8 earned runs in 3.2 innings.

September 17, 2013 Sports Picks

I had an incredible day yesterday going 7-0 for +1,227.  I've been on fire lately.  I hope my run can continue.  My plays for Tuesday are:

Nationals (Roark G2) -125 $125 to win $100
- Roark is 6-0 with a 1.30 ERA on the season.  He has pitched very well in his two starts giving up 2 runs, 10 hits in 12 innings.  Washington needs this win if they are going to stay in the wild card hunt.  The Braves are very good as well but they don't play as well on the road.

Nationals G2 under 8.5 -115 $230 to win $200
- Both Roark and Garcia have been pitching well lately and 8.5 runs is a lot for a national league game with the wind blowing in.

Pirates -170 $340 to win $200
- I really like Locke even though he has struggled since the All-Star break. Locke has put together two good starts and is coming off a 7 inning, 3 hit, 1 run win over the Cubs.  The Pirates just got shut out and will be motivated to win this game to keep their lead in the Central.  Eric Stults has really struggled after his first half and has a 4.91 ERA on the road.

Cardinals -140 $280 to win $200
- St. Louis wants this win and will be giving their best effort.  They won't be playing tight because its not like they need to win to make the playoffs or anything at this point.  I really like how Joe Kelly has been pitching lately.  Over his last 10 starts Kelly has given up more than 2 runs only twice (3,4) and has a 2.02 ERA on the road.  Pitching in Colorado might be tricky but the Cardinals have the offensive fire power to put up some runs against Juan Nicasio and the Rockies.  Nicasio has pitched well but is a risk to give up a lot of runs if he isn't on.  I'm also considering the under 10 in this game as well.

Dodgers +105 $150 to win $156
- Getting the Dodgers at positive juice with Greinke pitching can't be ignored.  However, as I stated last night, the Dodgers have some injury concerns so be careful here.  Matt Kemp could be back starting tonight (or soon) which could benefit LA even more.  Ramirez and Ethier have been out with injuries but Puig was back last night.  Corbin has struggled a little over the past six starts but had a really good outing in his last start, against the Dodgers.  I think with the pitching edge the Dodgers should be able to win this game.  The under is another strong play as well and I will most likely add a small bet on this.

Tigers -1.5 -135 $210 to win $156
- Sanchez has been great lately (and all season).  He has a 2.41 ERA at home and 2.50 ERA overall.  He had a lot of success against the Mariners in his last start against them (6 innings, 6 hit, 1 run, 6 Ks).  Seattle is pitching Brandon Maurer who has a 7.18 ERA.  Why is this guy still in the big leagues?  Detroit should put up plenty of runs tonight.

Reds -1.5 -110 $110 to win $100
- Small bet on this because I picked up Mike Leake on my fantasy team.  The Reds had their way with the Astros last night and Leake has pitched well in his last two starts.

For my fanduel.com team I like the value with Jeff Locke (5,800) or would go with Sanchez (9,800).  At C I like Perez (3,500), Molina (3,200) or Victor Martinez (3,100).  At 1B I like David Ortiz (4,100), Prince Fielder (4,100) or Adam Dunn (2,600).  At 2B I like Altuve (3,100), Phillips (3,100) or LeMahieu (2,900).  At 3B I like Machado (3,400) and Plouffe (2,700).  At SS I like Tulowitzki (3,500) or Segura (2,300).  In the OF I like Bruce (3,800), Stanton (4,400), Crisp (4,300), Beltran (3,500), Adam Jones (3,500), Willingham (2,700) and Arcia (2,500).

September 16, 2013 Sports Picks

I had another positive day yesterday going 4-2 for +265 in MLB and 10-4 for +907 in NFL.  Overall I made $1,172 today.  I like these kind of days!  Monday we have a lot less games and I'm picking my favorites to bet on.  Here they are:

MLB:
Dbacks -105 $105 to win $100
- The Dodgers seem to be resting all their good players and Arizona has been hot lately.  Small bet but it makes sense.

Dbacks under 8.5 -105 $210 to win $200
- The Dodgers are resting starters or have some injury concerns and they have a pretty good pitcher going in Ryu so that sort of evens out.  This game should stay under 8.5.

Tigers -205 $410 to win $200
- Detroit is fighting for the #2 seed which would give them home field advantage in the first round.  Porcello hasn't been all that good lately but Saunders has been much worse.  The Tigers offense will be having a hay day against the lefty on Monday.

Tigers -1.5 -105 $105 to win $100

Rays -135 $270 to win $200
-  I'm a big fan of Alex Cobb and Garza has been struggling lately.  Tampa is home so they have that going for them.  Texas is playing poorly and they are playing tight.

NFL:
Bengals -275 $550 to win $200
- Both teams don't look all that good but Cincinnati looks much better.  Pittsburgh struggled in their first game and lost a home game against the Titans.  AJ Green will score at least once and the Bengals defense will limit Pittsburgh's attempt at an offense.

Pitt +12.5 / Under 47 6 pt teaser $250 to win $227
-  I just have a feeling this game will be somewhat close.  Big Ben finds a way to have a chance at the end.  However, both offenses don't look all that good, with the exception of A.J. Green.

Jonny

September 15, 2013 Sports Picks

After all my bets yesterday I ended up 5-1 in MLB for +795 and I was 7-5 for +$141 in NCAAF.  Overall it was a plus $936 day.  Not too bad.  That's my second $900+ day in the past three days.  Sunday is NFL day.  I usually have a lot of bets.  This Sunday is no different.  I maxed out my available funds so I do have some parlays which can maximize my winnings.  Here are my bets for Sunday:

NFL:

Eagles / Texans Parlay $300 to win $200
-Philly looks really good in Chip Kelly's offense.  They looked good on defense Monday night as well.  San Diego self destructed and will be playing an early game on the road.  Houston is one of my favorite teams and they should have no problem taking care of business against the Titans.  Schaub looked great on Monday.  I'm still a huge fan of Foster and Johnson.

Ravens vs. Browns under 44.5 $220 to win $200
- Baltimore is missing some key offensive pieces and Cleveland's defense is pretty good.  I really like the under in this game.

Houston / Atlanta Parlay $200 to win $151
-  I think the Texan's are a lock and I will parlay them with the Falcons who I think should win at home against the Rams.  The sharks are all over the Rams in this game but I don't think Atlanta will lose at home against an inferior opponent.

Atl / GB Parlay $300 to win $261
- Going with with Falcons and Packers in this parlay.  I think Green Bay will have no trouble beating Washington at home.  RG3 looked like a shell of his former self on Monday and I don't think he'll get back to his former self just yet.  Rodgers is very good and will score often.

Packers -330 $660 to win $200
- This is one of my favorite games to pick of the weekend.

Indy -2.5 -110 $110 to win $100
- The Colts at home are tough and I'm still not sure why the spread is only 2.5.  Luck will take care of business and win this game.

Chiefs -3 -105 $105 to win $100
- Kansas City has a very well balanced team and Dallas is still a mess.  Go Chiefs.

Chiefs vs. Cowboys under 46.5 $220 to win $200
- Both teams have good defenses so I think 46.5 is a bit much for total points in this game.

Bears -250 $250 to win $100
- As much as I wanted to go Vikings I just couldn't find any reason to do that.  Ponder completely sucks and MN will have a hard time winning with him at the helm.  Why didn't they draft a better QB?

Buf +13 / Indy +7.5 / NO + 6.5 10 pt teaser $130 to win $100
- I like all three teams to win so I decided on a teaser to make things interesting and to hedge in case one or more lose by a small margin.

Saints -160 $320 to win $200
- New Orleans is much better than Tampa and even though they are on the road I strongly believe they will win this game.

Raiders -5.5 $110 to win $100
- Oakland is much better than they were last year and Jacksonville is much worse than last year.

Broncos -220 $440 to win $200
- Peyton Manning is the best QB in the game.   Hands down.  He knows how to win and he'll be extra motivated playing against his little brother on Sunday.

San Fran +3.5 -145 $290 to win $200 (buy .5 pt)
- Most people are on the Seahawks in this game but I think the 49ers are the best team in the NFL this year.  If they lose it won't be by more than 3 points.  I think they win this game straight up.

MLB:

Nationals -1.5 -105 $210 to win $200
- Washington is coming off a loss and they need this win badly.  Zimmerman has been great at home all year.

Pirates under 7 -115 $115 to win $100
- Liriano has been money at home all year and that won't change today.

Pirates -185 $185 to win $100
- Liriano has been money at home all year and that won't change today.  Travis Wood is really good as well.

Braves -1.5 -105 $105 to win $100
- Atlanta is trying to secure home field advantage in the playoffs and they have a very good pitcher going on Sunday in Teheran.  Julio is 3-1 with a 2.88 ERA over his last four starts.  Atlanta is the best home team in the MLB.  San Diego is bad on the road and is pitching Burch Smith.

Rays/Cardinals Parlay $150 to win $172
- Tampa owns the Twins and has their best pitcher (Price) going.  St. Louis needs this game and Shelby Miller is coming off a very strong start.  He has a 1.76 ERA at home this year.  That is bad news for Seattle.

 Red Sox -1.5 +120 $100 to win $120
- Boston is pitching their best pitcher in Buchholz.  Clay has only given up more than 2 earned runs once this entire season.  In his last start he game up 3 hits and 0 runs in five innings.  He has a 1.61 ERA on the season.  For the Yankees, Nova has been good but is coming off a rough start where he yielded 4 earned runs in six innings.  He has struggled a little over his last five starts.  However, he has the stuff to shut down the Red Sox if he is on so be careful.

September 14, 2013 Sports Picks

I had an up and down day yesterday going 5-3 for +133.  I have a lot of games on my card today and here they are:

MLB:

Reds -170 $340 to win $200
- Cincinnati got out pitched and out played by the Brewers yesterday but today they have Bailey pitching who is a very good pitcher and has the ability to shut out the Brewers.  Milwaukee has Hellweg starting who has been really bad.  His last start at home against the Reds on July 10th Hellweg gave up 4 earned runs in 4.1 innings.  The Reds need this win.

Pirates -185 $370 to win $200
- I really like Pittsburgh in this game.  If you saw Gerrit Cole pitch in his last start you will understand why.  Cole was throwing in the upper 90s and looked very dominant.  He's young but a big game pitcher.  The Cubs are pitching Scott Baker who has recently come off of the DL.

Pirates -1.5 +110 $150 to win $165
- I'm high on Cole and the Pirates in this game so I'm adding in the runline.

Braves -185 $370 to win $200
- Atlanta is fighting for home field advantage so every game is very important to them.  At the same time they can play relaxed because they aren't fighting for a playoff spot or the division.  Medlen has put together seven quality starts in a row.  He is back to pitching at a high level.

Red Sox -1.5 +130 $150 to win $195
- I am very surprised I am getting these odds with Lester pitching at home.   Boston has been playing great ball and Lester has had a lot of success this year.  His last start at home he shut down the Detroit offense yielding only 1 run in seven innings.  Sabathia hasn't been very good this year and has given up a lot of runs.

Rays -160 $240 to win $150
- Tampa is much better than the Twins and they have Matt Moore pitching tonight.  This is a no brainer.  I didn't go crazy here because Albers is capable of pitching a shut out if the Rays don't figure him out.

NCAA:

Indiana over 62 -110 $220 to win $200
Louisville -13.5 -130 $130 to win $100 (bought points)
Virginia Tech / Alabama Parlay $200 to win $137
Nebraska -2.5 -110 $220 to win $200
Oregon -28 -120 $180 to win $150 (bought .5 points)
IA St +110 $100 to win $110
TX A&M +9 -110 $220 to win $200
TX A&M / Ala over 60 -110 $110 to win $100
Penn St under 50.5 -110 $110 to win $100
S Carolina / S. FL Parlay $250 to win $112.50
OH ST -14 -130 $200 to win $154
Wisc +4 $220 to win $200

September 13, 2013 Sports Picks

After a +900 Day I took a small loss yesterday.  My big loss was the Cardinals losing me $510.  At least New England won.  That game was ugly.  Overall I went 6-4 for -175.  I'm hoping for a good day today and here at my baseball picks:

Indians -135 $200 to win $133
- Danny Salazar has pitched very well for Cleveland.  He has a 2.92 ERA on the season, 2.79 ERA on the road and 1.13 ERA in day games.  For the White Sox, Santiago has been inconsistent and has a 4.82 ERA against the Indians in his career.  He is also worse at home and in day games this year.

Pirates -1.5 +115 $150 to win $165
- This Pittsburgh team will definitely make the playoffs and they are playing their best ball right now.  Morton has been really good over his last seven starts, other than his last start.  He's dealing with a foot issue so the pitcher may change.  For the Cubs, Arrieta has really struggled this year (5.49 ERA).

Pirates/Cubs over 7.5 -120 $180 to win $150
- My stronger play on this game ins on the over.  Both starting pitchers are a mess right now and both teams can hit, especially the Pirates.  With the run total only at 7.5 this seems easy.

Nationals -240 $240 to win $100
- Washington needs this win badly and Strasburg is pitching.  Kendrick has struggled lately.  Over his last ten starts he has given up more than 3 runs six times.

Reds -150 $300 to win $200
-Matt Latos has been super good.  Over his last ten starts he has given up more than 2 runs only twice.  The Reds need this win and will give it everything they have against the Brewers and Kyle Lohse.  Lohse is coming off a start where he gave up 7 earned runs in five innings against the Cubs.

Dodgers -200 $200 to win $100
-Kershaw is pitching at home and only favored at -200.  I can't pass on this opportunity.  Kershaw has a 1.92 ERA on the season.  He's outstanding against the Giants (1.32 career ERA) and at home (1.56 ERA).  For the Giants, Bumgarner has been good but not great over his last seven starts.  He gave up 3 earned runs in four of those starts.  Not too bad but 3 runs given up tonight will make him a loser.

Orioles -120 $240 to win $200
- Baltimore needs this game if they are going to keep pace in the wild card race.  Toronto is still dealing with a lot of injury concerns and Encarnacion probably won't play again tonight.  The pitching matchup is pretty even and Baltimore has a big offensive advantage.

Cardinals -180 $360 to win $200
- I'm going back with St. Louis again tonight.  I think they win tonight with their best pitcher going (Wainwright).  Adam had two rough starts but came back to shut out the Pirates in his last starts.  I think he made the right adjustments and will be fine tonight.  Seattle isn't all that bad but they will be playing in a National League park and Iwakuma will have to hit.  Hisashi hasn't pitched all that well over his last four starts, giving up 3 earned runs in three of those starts.

September 12, 2013 Sports Picks

I had a very good day yesterday going 6-3 for +924.  My picks for today are:

Nationals -1.5 +110 $150 to win $165
- A lot of Washington hitters have been hot lately (Span, Werth, Desmond, Ramos, Zimmerman) and Roark is 5-0 with a 0.94 ERA.  The Mets aren't playing well and Harang is not good.  He has given up 7 earned runs in three of his last five starts.

Pirates -1.5 +120 $150 to win $180
- This is more about the Pirates offense than the pitching matchup.  The Pirates have a very good offensive team and should be able to put up runs against Rusin and the Cubs.  Locke hasn't pitched all that well but I visualize a good game for him tonight.

Cardinals -170 $510 to win $300
- Big bet on the Cards tonight.  Joe Kelly has been outstanding going 5-0 over his last five starts.  He has given up just 5 earned runs in those five starts.  The Brewers are hit or miss and tonight they will miss.  Thornburg is decent but the Cardinals should be able to score some runs off of him at home.

Dodgers -180 $270 to win $150
- Greinke has been outstanding this year and hasn't given up more than 2 runs over his last 8 starts.  Matt Cain is capable but has really struggled this year.  LA is coming off a loss and they will be motivated to get back on the winning track tonight.

A's -164 $164 to win $100
- Oakland went crazy offensively last night and I think that carries over to today.  A.J. Griffin is really good and should be able to limit Minnesota's offense.  Scott Diamond is coming back up from AAA and is sporting a 5.52 ERA.  I'm a fan of Diamond but the A's will most likely hit him hard today.

Red Sox -120 $240 to win $200
-Boston is hot and Tampa is cold.  Jake Peavy has been really good lately and Hellickson has been pretty bad this year.  Over his last seven starts he has give up more than 3 earned runs in five of those starts.

NFL & NCAA:

Patriots -550 $1,100 to win $200
- New England almost lost to Buffalo last week but this week they are home against the Jets.  This seems to be a lock and I'm betting big.

Patriots vs. Jets over 43 -110 $220 to win $200
- Both teams seem to be able to put up points so I'm going on the over tonight.  The Patriots won't be running as much so that means more passes and more quick scores.  The Jets will be playing from behind so they will have to throw or have the QB run.

TX Tech +3.5 -110 $220 to win $200
L Tech / Ark St Parlay $200 to win $154

September 11, 2013 Sports Picks

My picks for today:

Reds -170 $600 to win $353
- Reds lost two in a row at home against the lowly Cubs.  I like Leake today to beat Samardzjia, who is coming off two very poor starts, in a must win.

Marlins -105 $210 to win $200
-  I'll bet with Jose Fernandez in every game he pitches regardless of the opponent.  The guy is unhittable.

Dodgers -144 $144 to win $100
- Smaller bet with the Dodgers today but they are home and Ryu has been good.  Corbin has struggled recently as well but he's capable of shutting teams out.

Royals -115 $115 to win $100
- KC has a big pitching advantage with Shields vs. Kazmir.  Kazmir has struggled lately.

Yankees under 9 -120 $240 to win $200
- Both Pettite and Feldman have been very good over the last 30 days.  I like the under 9 in this game.

Rays -1.5 +160 $100 to win $160
- Tampa has been struggling but I'll take the chance based on the pitching matchup.  Cobb is very good at home and Dempster hasn't pitched well in 4 of his last 5 starts.

A's -160 $480 to win $300
- Oakland is in the same situation as Cincinnati.  They need to avoid the sweep in a must win.  I'm a big fan of Sonny Gray.

Rangers under 8.5 -115 $115 to win $100
-  I can't believe I lost this bet last night.  Texas just had to score those two runs in the 8th.  Today we have another great pitching matchup with Garza vs. Burnett.

** Late Game additions:
Mariners vs. Astros under 9 +115 $200 to win $230
- I know both pitchers have struggled but getting 9 runs with a +115 is too much to pass up.

Astros +1.5 -155 $155 to win $100
- Peacock has pitched much better than Maurer and the Astros have been hitting lately.

September 9, 2013 Sports Picks

I had an up and down weekend but overall it was a positive weekend.  Now that football is back I'll be increasing the size of my bets.  Yesterday I was 7-3 in NFL for +563 and 3-1 in MLB for +350.  Here are my picks for tonight:

NFL:

Redskins -175 $175 to win $100
- I really wanted to go with the Eagles but based on last year the Redskins should win and they have home field advantage.  This is a small bet just to make it interesting.

Eagles vs. Redskins over 52 -110 $110 to win $100
- Chip Kelly likes to run a lot of plays so we should see some quick scores and a high scoring game.

Texans -210 $420 to win $200
-San Diego was very bad last year and I don't think they will be all that much better this year.  Houston is very good and should be able to win this one with a great mix of run and pass plays and a strong defense.

MLB:

Nationals -150 $150 to win $100
- Washington looks to be out of the playoff hunt but they are not eliminated and will need to win this game (and every game) if they are going to make up the 8 games.  Gio Gonzalez is 4-1 against the Mets in his career and threw a 3 hit 2 run game his his last start vs New York.

Dodgers -160 $320 to win $200
- LA has a long flight but they will have time to rest up for their home game against the Diamondbacks.  Nolasco has been one of the best pitchers in all of baseball over his last six starts and has been very good at Dodgers stadium.  Delgado hasn't pitched well lately and struggled in his last start against LA (6 inn, 11 hits, 3 runs).

Indians -109 $218 to win $200
- I feel like I'm getting good value on my baseball games today.  Getting Cleveland at home at -109 is a steal.  Jimenez has pitched very well over his last 8 starts and he has given up more than 2 runs just once in those starts (3).  Santana hasn't pitched as well as he was earlier this season.

Angels -164 $328 to win $200
- Jered Weaver is a very good pitcher and has had a lot of success against the Twins in his career.  For the Twins, Pedro Hernandez is on the bump.  I'm visualizing Trout and Trumbo going yard tonight.  I started playing fanduel recently and both Trout and Trumbo are in my lineup for tonight.  If you haven't played its a lot of fun.  If you sign up using the below link you'll get $10 extra free (on top of the regular bonus).  Go to:

Astros +1.5 -150 $150 to win $100
- I picked up Jarred Cosart on my fantasy baseball team and I'm expecting good things from him and the Astros tonight against Seattle.  Cosart has pitched very well as season and gets to pitch in Seattle and Cosart has a 1.38 ERA on the road.  Taijuan Walker is a bit of an unknown and I haven't seen him pitch but Houston actually has some pretty good bats.  I see a one run game or a Houston win tonight.
