November 30, 2013 Sports Picks

I had a rough day yesterday going 3-6 for -747.  Here are my plays today:

11am:
OH ST / Mich under 57 -110 $220 to win $200
- Both Ohio St and Michigan have very good defenses.  Michigan has had trouble moving the ball and with the colder temps I really see this game staying under 57.

Oh St -5.5 / Duke +15 / Gophers +27 10 pt teaser $200 to win $154
- I couldn't pull the trigger on OH St -15.5 so I'll take them at -5.5.  I think they will win by at least a touchdown with the potential for a blowout.  Duke should play UNC close and the Gophers are not getting the respect they deserve.

Gophers +17 $220 to win $200

- The Gophers are 8-3 and they kept their game within the 17 point spread against Wisconsin last week.  Michigan St is playing very well and I think they will win this game but I like getting 17 points with a really good team.

Utah -13.5 (buy 1.5) -145 $145 to win $100

- Utah is home against a really bad Colorado team.  Utah is much better at home and Colorado lost their last road game 59-7 against Washington.

FL St / FL over 47 $165 to win $150

- I know both teams have good defenses but FSU can put up points like nobody's business. FSU is averaging 55 points a game. 

UNC / West Virginia / Alabama Parlay +130 $160 to win $208

- My parlay special of the week.  UNC has played very well of late and Duke had a very hard time beating Wake Forest last week.  West Virginia is home and faces a 2-9 Iowa St team who has struggled on the road. 

2:30pm:

Indiana -20 $110 to win $100
-Indiana has a very good offense.  They are averaging 37 points per game.  Purdue is just 1-10 on the season. They lost to Penn St by 24 and Indiana beat Penn St by 20.  Purdue has been getting beat down all year and I think that trend will continue today.

Georgia -3 -115 $230 to win $200
- Georgia started off slow but they are playing well of late.  Two weeks ago they should have beat Auburn but lost on a fluke long bomb.  They are much more talented than Georgia Tech and should win this game by 7.

Auburn +11 -110 $220 to win $200
- This is the game of the day.  Alabama is the best team in college football but this game is at Auburn has a lot of pride and will put everything they have into this game.  The crowd factor will be huge and I think this game stays close.

Auburn/Alabama over 56 $110 to win $100
- Both teams can move the ball and in such a big game like this I am expecting a close game high scoring game.  31-27 Alabama. 

Baylor -14 $165 to win $150
- Baylor has looked unstoppable all season until last week when then got dominated against Okl St.  I think they will be pissed off about that and take it out on TCU this afternoon. 38-17 Baylor

Wisc / Penn St over 50 $110 to win $100
- Wisconsin is averaging 37 points per game and Penn St averages 29.  Wisconsin has a very good defense but Penn St does not.  38-17 Wisconsin.  

6pm:
Missouri -210 $420 to win $200
- Missouri has the 2nd best offense and the 2nd best defense in the SEC.  That's a pretty impressive stat.  They just find a way to win and they are great at home.

S. Carolina -3 -115 $115 to win $100
- South Carolina has played well lately and Clemson has struggled on the road a little.

Stanford -8.5 / Under 56.5 7 pt teaser -140 $200 to win $143
- Stanford is one of the best running teams in football and they play outstanding defense.  Notre Dame has played well but they did lose their last road game to a very bad Pittsburgh team.  Stanford is really good at home. 

ASU / Over 53.5 7 pt teaser -140 $200 to win $143
- Arizona St has had a great season and had an impressive win against UCLA last week.  They are especially good at home.  Arizona had a great emotional win against Oregon last week but that was a home game and they don't play as well on the road.  Both teams can put up points.

USC / ASU Parlay $200 to win $174
- USC and ASU are both very good at home.  I'm not a fan of UCLA but they have the talent for an upset but I'll go with the home team who recently beat Stanford.

I had a very nice day yesterday going 5-3 for +652.  Here are my plays for today:

Iowa +13 / Toledo +.5 / Ball St -25 10 pt teaser $260 to win $200
- I wanted to take Iowa at +3 but the juice was at -125 so I decided to take them in a teaser.  Getting 13 points should be plenty for Iowa who is very good.  They have a great running game and a good defense.  Nebraska has been very inconsistent this year and they could win this game but most likely it will be a close game.  Toledo is so much better than Akron and should win this game easily.  Ball St gets a home game against one of the worst teams in college football.

Ball St -35 $110 to win $100
- Ball St is very good at 9-2 on the season.  They get to play the 0-11 Miami OH.  My prediction is 52-6.  But the 35 points is a lot so I can't go crazy here.

East Carolina +4 $220 to win $200
- East Carolina is very hot right now.  They just beat North Carolina St on the road.  Marshall did not look good at all against a bad Tulsa team a few weeks ago. 

Bowling Green -3 EVEN $150 to win $150
- I like both BG and Buffalo but I think Bowling Green is better.  They have more impressive wins and I think they win this game. 

LSU -26 $220 to win $200
- LSU has the ability to blow teams out.  They have a great offense and a very good defense.  They play their best at home.  Arkansas has been getting blown out and they have lost eight straight games. 

FL Atlantic -28 $110 to win $100
- FL Atlantic is home and they are 5-6 on the season but they have three very impressive wins in a row.  FL International is 1-10 and they have given up.  They have been getting blown out a lot lately.

Fresno St -9.5 $110 to win $100
- Fresno St is undefeated this year and they have played very well of late.  They can put up a lot of points and San Jose St doesn't play defense.  San Jose St just gave up 58 points to Navy.  Their defense is tired and Fresno St is hungry. 

Miami -3 -105 $150 to win $143
- Miami doesn't play as well on the road but they are much better than Pitt so I think they should win this game.  North Carolina beat Pitt in Pittsburgh a few weeks a ago and Miami beat UNC in North Carolina so Miami should beat Pitt.

Wash/Wash St over 65.5 $220 to win $200
- Both Washington and Washington St are putting up a ton of points.  Washington averages 40 points and Washington St averages 31.

I may add a few of the evening games later.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I love Thanksgiving.  Mainly because there's a few extra NFL games on.  I've very thankful for that!  Here are my plays today:

Lions / Cowboys Parlay -159 $400 to win $252
- Detroit has struggled a bit lately losing their last game against Tampa.  I was a little frustrated that Stafford just threw the ball up and the end of the game down three and in field goal range.  Johnson caught the ball but immediately fumbled in the air being caught by a Tampa defender.  Green Bay has really struggled while Rodgers have been out.  They were completely dominanted at home against a bad Vikings team last week before making a comeback to tie. Eddie Lacy has been a bright spot for Green Bay but Detroit has the #4 ranked rushing defense and they may key on stopping Lacy which will force Flynn to throw.  Detroit has a very solid offense with Stafford, Johnson and Bush.  They are home on a short week so should be able to win this game.  Dallas is home and they are 4-1 at home this year with their only loss being against Denver.  Oakland is 1-4 on the road.  I'm a big fan of Dallas and think they win this game easily. 

Lions -1 / Over 43.5 6 pt tease -120 $240 to win $200
- I love the Lions to win and with the ideal conditions indoors I would predict this to be a high scoring game.

Cowboys / Texas parlay -113 $250 to win $231
- Dallas should win and I'll parlay them with the Texas.  The Longhorns have put together a really good season after a slow start.  They are 6-1 in conference play.  TX Tech has struggled lately losing four straight games.  They haven't played defense in those games so Texas should have no trouble moving the ball.  Texas plays defense so as long as they can stop a few of TX Tech's possessions they will win this game at home.

Lions +3 / Cowboys +1 / Steelers +13 10 pt teaser -130 $200 to win $154
- Not much else to say on this.  I think Detroit and Dallas will win and I think Pittsburgh will keep it close.

Cowboys -9 $110 to win $100
- The more I think about this game the more I think we see a Cowboy blowout.  Romo will move the ball all day against the Raiders and Oakland's offense is a total unknown with their QB situation.  Take Dallas at home on Thanksgiving against an inferior team. 

Steelers +9.5 / Over 34.5 6.5 Teaser -130 $260 to win $200
- I couldn't predict who will win this game.  Baltimore has played well at home going 4-1 but Pittsburgh has played very well over their last three games easily beating Buffalo, Detroit and Cleveland.  This game is likely to be a very close game.  I'm taking the over because Pittsburgh has been putting up points and their defense hasn't played as well as they historically have played.  I'm seeing a three point game in the low fourties.

OK St -13.5 (NCAAB) $165 to win $150
- Oklahoma St has been blowing out everyone they have played so far this year.  This is a very good team.  Purdue is also undefeated but they haven't played anyone good yet.  Purdue hasn't looked sharp so far this year so I'm taking the much better team who loves to blow teams out.

KU -14 $110 to win $100
- Kansas has played great basketball so far this year.  They are undefeated and they beat Duke by 11.  Wake Forest is also undefeated but Kansas is just much better and they need a big win to have a chance at getting ranked #1.

Yesterday I went 3-2 for -30.  Here are my plays today:

Nets -2.5 $165 to win $150
- Brooklyn has had a very disappointing season but they aren't horrible at home going 2-3 and they are coming off a nice win in Toronto last night.  The Lakers are just 1-5 on the road and they also played last night losing to Washington.  This is a great spot for Brooklyn to get their 5th win on the season.

Bulls vs. Pistons under 185.5 $165 to win $150
- Chicago's offense will be limited now that Rose is out.  Their defense will need to step up and they are coming off a game where a total of just 172 points were scored.  Detroit has been wildly inconsistent in their games but I'll take the chance in this being a relatively low scoring battle.

TWolves -6 $110 to win $100
- MN is very good at home going 6-2 in those games.  Denver has been playing well but most of those games were at home.  They are just 2-4 on the road.  I think we get some value with the spread only at 6 because Denver won their last road game against Dallas.  However, the Timberwolves won their last home game by 30 against Brooklyn.

Miami / Houston / LAC Parlay $200 to win $149
- I like all of these teams to win tonight so this is my parlay special of the night. 

Devils -145 $290 to win $200
- New Jersey lost their last game and I'm going with them again to avoid a three game losing streak.  Carolina is just 3-6 on the road.

NYR -140 $200 to win $143
- The Rangers are just 12-12 on the season but they are an impressive 8-7 on the road.  Florida is coming off a big win against Philadelphia but they aren't very good and I would be surprised if they put together a few wins in a row.  New York is much better and should be able to win this game.

Yesterday I took another loss going 2-3 for -310.  Getting back on track with these today:

Northern Illinois -35 $220 to win $200
- The Huskies have been on fire lately.  The smoked two really good teams in Ball St and Toledo over their last two games.  Tonight they get to play Western Michigan.  Western Michigan is just 1-10 on the season and their only win was by one point against a really bad UMass team.  They lost 59-3 against Iowa earlier this year and I see a similar result in tonight's game.

Orlando +8 $110 to win $100
- Orlando started the season strong and most of their losses are by less than 8 points.  They played Atlanta on the road a few weeks ago and lost by 10 but Atlanta has struggled a little lately.  They just lost their last home game against a bad Boston team. 

Indiana (NCAA) -15 $110 to win $100
- Indiana started off slow but they seem to be putting things together. Evansville is 5-0 but who have they played?  No one.  This game won't be close so the question is will they win by 15 or 25. 

Wisc (NCAA) -1.5 $110 to win $100
- Wisconsin is home and only favored by 1.5.  Got to take them here.  They are 6-0 and playing 5-0 St. Louis.  This is a going to be a good low scoring game but I got to take the home team here.

Anaheim (NHL) -110 $110 to win $100
- Only hockey game of the night.  Home ice is not as important in hockey and Anaheim (17-6) is just much better than Dallas (11-9).

Yesterday was an up and down day going 10-10 for -300.  For today, here are my plays:


Niners -230 $460 to win $200
Niners -5 $110 to win $100
- This is a tough game to handicap.  I'm taking the 49ers for a few reasons.  The 49ers are one of the best rushing teams averaging 141 yards a game and the Redskins are not good at stopping the run giving up 115 rushing yards a game.  The Redskins are the best rushing team in the the NFL but the 49ers are good at stopping the run.  The Redskins are also really bad at stopping the pass so San Fran will be able to run a well balanced offense and should put up plenty of points.  Washington is just 2-2 at home and San Fran is 3-2 on the road.  They played well at New Orleans last week only losing by 3.  Washington has lost two straight against MN and Philly. 

Niners over 47.5 $220 to win $200
- The Redskins have a bad defense and have been pretty good on offense.  San Fran should be able to score and limit the Redskins a little.  I think this over / under is a little low considering the weather looks good tonight.

NJ Devils -135 $270 to win $200
- New Jersey is a really good hockey team this year.  They are hot right now.  Over their last four games, they beat Pitt at home 4-1, they Anaheim on the road, they beat LA on the road and then they lost their last game 2-1 in San Jose.  They had a day of rest and play Winnipeg tonight at home.  THe Jets have lost four straight including three straight home games.  NJ is 4-2 at home and Winnipeg is 3-5 on the road. 

Flyers -120 $120 to win $100
- Philly is much better than FL.  The Flyers are on a three game winning streak and they are 4-3 on the road.

Yesterday I went 10-10 for -208.  Today I feel really good about my picks.  Here they are:

Lions / Texans Parlay $400 to win $173
- Detroit plays much better at home and they get to play Tampa who is playing well.  Tampa has won two in a row but both of these games were at home and against two really bad teams.  Detroit is 3-1 at home and Tampa is 0-4 on the road.  Houston has been inconsistent and has lost 8 straight.  If there was ever a time to break that losing streak its today.  They get to play the worst team in the league.  They need to get things back on track and I think they make it happen today in front of their home crowd. 

Vikings +5 -110 $330 to win $300
- The Packers without Aaron Rodgers are just not very good.  They've lost three straight and I think they might just lose their fourth.  Scott Tolzien has been serviceable but he makes way too many mistakes and will most likely turn the ball over a few times today.  The Vikings can key in on stopping the run and even with some secondary issues they should be able to limit Tolzien's production and I can see a lot of sacks by Allen and Co.  The Vikings are a mess this year but they are better than the Packers without Rodgers.

Chiefs -195 $195 to win $100
- Kansas City had a rough loss last week against Denver but this week they can to play an easier opponent at home.  They put a lot of pressure on the QB so Rivers could struggle.  Plus their home field advantage is second to none.  Its going to be cold in KC today and SD struggles in cold weather.

Lions / Panthers Parlay $180 to win $140
- I love Detroit at home today and Carolina is one of the best teams in the NFL.  They beat NE last week and this week they get to play a really bad Miami team.  Miami has found ways to win at home but their luck will run dry today against a much better team.

Ravens -3.5  $110 to win $100
- Baltimore is home and playing a very inconsistent Jets team who doesn't play well on the road.  New York is just 1-4 on the road and Baltimore is 3-1 at home.  What am I missing with this line?  Shouldn't it be around 6.5?  Baltimore wins by at least 7 today.

Cardinals -3 -105 $315 to win $300
- Arizona is very strong at home led by a great defense.  They are 4-1 at home and Indianapolis just isn't the same without Reggie Wayne.  I love the Cardinals in this game.

Bucs +18.5 / Vikings +15 / Cowboys +13 10 pt teaser $200 to win $154
- I think Tampa can keep this game within two TDs as they have been playing very well.  The Vikings could easily win this game and the Cowboys are better than the Giants.

Chargers +14 / Panthers +6 / Patriots +11.5 10 pt teaser $200 to win $154
- Kansas City doesn't blow teams out and San Diego is good.  If Miami wins it won't be by more than 3 as I think Carolina should win.  New England has the edge at home against Denver with the cold temps and winds.

** Sunday Night Plays**

NE/DEN under 55 $330 to win $300
- Normally this game would be a high scoring back and forth game with a lot of passing touchdowns.  However, the weather comes into play in this game.  At game time the temps will be 23 degrees with 30 mph winds.  That is not a receipt for a high scoring game.  I'll take the under and will expect a lot of running. 

Pats +7.5 / Under 61 6 pt teaser -120 $240 to win $200
- I hate betting against Peyton Manning as he is the best QB of all time but he has struggled in very cold weather and in high winds.  Tom Brady has had much more success in this type of environment, plus he is at home.  With a gun to my head I would take New England at +1.5 but I like getting a touchdown plus with this teaser.
