August 9th Sports Picks

I had a positive day on Thursday and hope to keep it going on Friday.  Here are my picks for today:

Reds -160 $320 to win $200
- This is strictly a home vs. away bet.  The Reds are very good at home (35-19) and the Padres are bad on the road (21-35).  Arroyo and Cashner have very similar stats over the last thirty days.  Arroyo is better at home (3.21) and Cashner is much worse on the road (5.02).

Cardinals -1.5 +105 $200 to win $210
- The Cards are just due for a win and they get the lowly Cubs at home with Lynn on the hill.  I didn't want to pay the -200 so the +105 for the run-line looks really good here.  Lynn has a 2.66 ERA at home.

Pirates vs. Rockies under 8.5 -105 $210 to win $200
- This is a match-up of two really good pitchers (Liriano vs. De La Rosa).  Liriano might just win a Cy Young this year as he has a 2.02 ERA which is 2nd in the league after Kershaw.  He has a 1.93 career ERA against the Rockies and has been great over his last three starts.  De La Rosa has a 2.65 ERA at home this year.  That is very good in Colorado.

Dbacks -180 $500 to win $277.80
- I like the -180 because it should be at least -210.  Corbin is one of the best starting pitchers in the league and he goes up against a team that doesn't score many runs.  He sports a 1.50 ERA at home which is even more amazing than De La Rosa's home ERA.  Hefner goes for the Mets and he hasn't been very good over the past 30 days (0-2, 7.66 ERA).

Angels under 7.5 -105 $105.00 to win $100
- This bet is based on the fact that Jered Weaver is pitching.  When this guy is on, he is on!  Over his last four starts he has given up 0, 0, 1 and 3 earned runs.  All against good hitting teams.  On the other side is Kazmir who has actually pitched better than Weaver over the last 30 days (3-0, 1.72 ERA).
