September 18, 2013 Sports Picks

Well, I didn't go undefeated last night but I did pretty good going 6-1 for +$572.  I'll take that after such a great run.  I was going to scale down a bit on Wednesday but I do like a few games and here is what I'm doing:

Pirates -160 $480 to win $300
- For some reason Pittsburgh is having a hard time beating San Diego at home.  I like the Pirates in this game based on the pitching matchup.  Morton has a 1.46 career ERA against the Padres and 3.15 ERA at home.  Tyson Ross was hot for a while but lately he has struggled.  He has a 5.68 career ERA against the Pirates and 4.14 ERA on the road.  In his start against Pittsburgh on 8/20 he gave up 4 earned runs in 6.1 innings.

Giants -1.5 +115 $100 to win $115
Giants -143 $286 to win $200
- San Fransisco is playing really good ball right now and they are finally healthy.   They have a very good offense and Matt Cain has pitched well since he came off the DL.  The Mets don't have an offense and Harang has a 5.70 ERA on the season.

Cardinals -1.5 -155 $310 to win $200
- St. Louis had a really good game on Tuesday scoring 10 runs against a very good pitcher in Nicasio.  On Wednesday they get to hit against Tyler Chatwood who has struggled recently.  Adam Wainwright goes for the Cards and he has been really good.  Over his last two starts, Wainwright has given up just 1 run and 8 hits over 15 innings.  In his last game against the Rockies he pitched a 2 hit CG shut out.

A's -1.5 +135 $100 to win $135
A's -155 $310 to win $200
- Oakland is too good to be struggling at home against the Angels.   A.J. Griffin is 4-0 over his last four starts and has a 2.14 career ERA against the Angels.  Jason Vargas has struggled lately giving up 15 earned runs over 14.1 innings in his last three starts.  He also has a 4.76 ERA on the road.

Red Sox -150 $450 to win $300
- Boston is 50-26 at home this year and I really like Jake Peavy's intensity and passion for the game.  You can tell he is really excited to be playing for a competing team now.  Peavy is 2-0 with a 2.94 ERA over his last five starts.  He has also pitched very well at Fenway Park.  For Baltimore, Chen has a 6.67 ERA over his last five starts.  In his last start against Boston he gave up 8 earned runs in 3.2 innings.
